Ruth Roberta (Seftz) Bergal Obituary Bergal, Ruth Roberta (Seftz) 87, of Duluth, died, Thursday, December 24, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born on November 16, 1922 to Morris and Monya (Firetog) Seftz in Proctor, MN. Ruth graduated from Proctor High School in 1941. Ruth married Harry Bergal in Proctor, MN during a snow storm on December 21, 1941. She was an exceptional homemaker and was happiest when cooking and entertain all of her family and friends. Ruth is a member of Temple Israel in Duluth as well as Temple Solel in Paradise Valley Arizona. She was a lifetime member of Duluth Hadassah. She was also the youngest senior regent of the Proctor Moose. Ruth loved to play bridge and do crossword puzzles. She was a frequent volunteer in the community. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Shirley Chaney and Carol Rosenberg. She leaves behind her husband of 68 years of marriage, Harry Bergal of Duluth; her son, Lyle (Lynn) Bergal of Duluth; her daughter, Lonna Rae (Jerry) Silverman of Richardson, TX; her wonderful and loving grandchildren, Erin Silverman of Glendale, AZ; Laura (Adam) Haberman of Garland, TX; Lauren and Alex Bergal of Duluth; her great grandson, Jacob Haberman; sister in-law, Freda Marks of California; nieces, Joyce (Michael) Ordun and family of Maryland; Judy Sobel of California; Phyllis (Warry) Shoemaker and family of Mesa, AZ; Marvin (Doris) Bergal and family Colorado; cousins, Jenny Bergal and family of Duluth; Barbara Sue (Bob) Howard and family of Minnetonka, MN; Elliott Silberman and family of Duluth; Harry and Terri Cohen of St. Louis Park, MN; dearest friends, Steve and Virginia Hahn of Scottsdale, AZ. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at the Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd Street in Duluth. Interment will be in the Shaara Tzedek Cemetery. Thank you to the 6 East and hospice staff at St. Mary's Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided Ruth. Please direct memorials to Temple Israel or a charity of your choice.
